Brittni & Billy – Portrait Session, Chester, VA

Billy contacted me a few weeks ago to put together a photo session with him and his lovely girlfriend Brittni. They have been dating for two years and wanted something to commemorate the occasion.

This was a super fun and sweet session, and it made me think back to my college days where I met Brian. šŸ™‚

Billy and Brittni brought their respective dogs, Oakley and Scruffy Lou (I think that is the cutest name ever!).

After a quick change, they came out with their college shirts….love, love this idea! Plus I thought it was especially funny because I was wearing my Hokie college shirt. šŸ™‚

Thanks for the fun time you two…hope you have a great school year! šŸ™‚

Jessica & Dave – Wedding, Main Street Station, Richmond, VA

Congratulations Jess and Dave! We photographed Jessica and Dave’s lively wedding at Main Street Station last week. They are a lovely, gracious couple and I have enjoyed working with them.

Jessica got ready at the downtown Crowne Plaza…doesn’t she make a beautiful bride?

I love this shot of anticipation as we headed to Main Street Station:

Getting married!

Congratulations again you two! Wishing you the best! šŸ™‚

Stephanie McDonald - Great pics Vera!!! I enjoyed working this wedding with you guys—these are such amazing shots!

Vera - Thanks Stephanie, it was a pleasure working with you as well!

Floral Bouquets and Centerpiece Samples – Wedding Ideas

Recently I had a bride ask if I had sample bouquets that I used for photographing bridal sessions. I did not, as brides have their own specific tastes and colors they want to use. But I thought it would be fun to get together with my mom to put together a couple of bouquets (or faux-quets as I am calling them!) for a display that I am working on. This was a fun project for us and maybe we’ll come up with more fun faux-quets one of these days!

I chose the florals for this one…I thought it would be fun to include the spiky plants in the middle while my mom put it together:

This is a bit more of a traditional one that my mom chose and put together. The photo on the right is something that Brian and I did at our wedding. We had branches that had Asian ornaments hanging from them as our centerpieces. We invited our guests to take them home as wedding favors! This is a similar idea, but I think you could put your engagement photos as part of the decor somewhere (maybe next to a guest book?):

These few projects left me feeling pretty inspired. I love seeing brides with crafty DIY ideas and thought it would be fun to share my own. šŸ™‚

Jessica & Dave – Engagement Session, Canal Walk, Richmond, VA

I had a fun engagement session over the weekend with Jessica and Dave. They are a really fun couple and an added bonus…Jessica is a fellow Hokie! It was a very hot and humid typical Virginia kind of day, but they did great! Dave thought ahead and had plenty of “blotting paper” to use. I would say that gives him major bonus points!

Here are some of my favorites from the day:

High-fives all around!

Good times. I’m looking forward to their wedding next month. šŸ™‚

Happy Father’s Day – Baby Portrait Session

Happy Father’s Day! Since we are first time parents, I wanted to make father’s day special for Brian and Penelope. Aside from Brian’s gifts of a coffee maker (Ha, for those late nights! And I guess it was for me too!) and a print for his office, I thought it would be fun to put together a quick little baby portrait session for the two of them.

They are lying on the back of the quilt I made while I was pregnant. I thought a little Photoshop would be fun here after seeing it somewhere on Pinterest. Maybe I am a little biased too! šŸ˜‰

Definitely a fun time. šŸ™‚
